White Cloud Calamint (Calamintha nepeta 'White Cloud') White Cloud calamint is a perennial species native to Europe. Calamint, a member of the mint family, is aromatic with a mint odor. It is a very low maintenance plant that provides color from July through until frost. Plant height is around 18 inches with a width of about 24 inches. Flowers are small, white and lipped. It is a tidy, finer-textured plant that likes sun and moist, well-drained soils but can tolerate some shade. Plants can be used alone in small gardens or in groupings in larger spaces. Bees are common visitors when plants are in bloom. Because of this, plants are probably best not used immediately next to walkways. Plants can be used as filler plants or can hold a place of prominence at a garden edge. This species may be difficult to find in garden centers as they are not commonly used. Length of bloom, white flower color and low maintenance make this under-used species a very desirable plant for landscape use.
